Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards
The Frank J. Gaziano Memorial Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards are presented annually to the Maine high school football offensive and defensive linemen who epitomize the character, leadership, and perseverance of Frank J. Gaziano. After an outstanding high school, college, and professional football career, Mr. Gaziano became a successful businessman, community benefactor, and family man.
The recipients are outstanding scholar-athletes. They are selected based on strong
leadership on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. The trophy honors
Mr. Gaziano's passion for sports and commitment to high school football in Maine.
Using Mr. Gaziano's own words; "I love athletics. Sports is the healthiest thing that can
happen to us today."
The Frank J. Gaziano Memorial Scholarship Awards Committee is guided by the highest standards of athleticism, scholarship, and community service - values Mr. Gaziano promoted throughout his lifetime.

Winners and Runners-up announced: January 23, 2024.
2023 Frank J. Gaziano Lineman Awards will be presented to the Winners and Runners-up by the Scholarship Sponsors (National Distributors and KeyBank) at the athletes' schools for the 2023-2024 calendar school year. This will include the First-Place Trophies that travel each year from prior to current Award Winners, individual trophies, and the Scholarships.
Application
Each Maine head varsity football coach may nominate one offensive and one defensive player for the awards per year. Nominated players must complete the online application by the December 1st deadline in order to be considered by the Selection Committee for the Award. Head coaches provide nominees with access to the online application.
Nominees must exhibit the following to be considered for the award:
- Graduating senior at the varsity level for a Maine High School during the current school year.
- Exemplary record of on-the-field football ability, leadership, and character.
- Exceptional positive citizenship in their community and school.
- Demonstrated strong classroom effort and dedicated academic pursuit.
Nominees from all levels of Maine's high school football class system are eligible for the Frank J. Gaziano Lineman Award and Scholarship.
